CLIMB PUNCAK JAYA / CARSTENSZ PYRAMID
Climb Cartensz Pyramid call name Climb Puncak Jaya or local langguage call Ngapulu Peak is the highest peak in Oceania and one of the most exotic and challenging world’s famous SEVEN SUMMITS; The Carstensz Pyramid 4.884 M at Irian Jaya, Indonesia. And opportunity to spend time in the central highland area visiting the famous Dani people, still very much living in the Stone Age to enjoy their amazing cultures and discover the beauty and wonders of Papua Island.

Carstensz Pyramid is a large limestone, we climb the mountain via its north face which joins the summit ridge before proceeding to the summit. Most of the climb is scrambling, but there are technical sections up to 5.8 in difficulty. We will fix ropes on much of the route to gain the summit ridge, which also direct us on the descent. The summit ridge is knife-edged ridge with some really interesting climbing. You’ll need to have some rock climbing experience prior to coming to Carstensz Pyramid.

Further regarding the climb, there are 2 parts of the climb, first we will climb up thru the north face of Carstensz Wall thru normal route where we have fixed many ropes for the ascend and descend ways. The climb on the north wall of CP is about 500 M where required jummaring up. Free climb is not recommended in term of safety and using a jummar is an obligatory. Once we are moving onward on summit ridge, we will once crossing the huge gap on tyrolean to speeds up the ascent to the summit of Carstensz Pyramid (4,884 M).

PERMIT ENTRANCE TO PAPUA
As you visit Irian Jaya (West Papua), you will be requested a police permit or in bahasa “Surat Jalan / Traveling Permit”. Please provide 2 photographs, 4 x 6 size, with red background and a copy of passport when you register the expedition.

ACCESS ROUTE TO CLIMB CARSTENSZ
Our expedition trip offers two route options:
by Trekking, entrance route crossing rainforest from Bilogai Village Sugapa Region or Ilaga Village. This route will pass through virgin forest and tribal area; to get to the base camp will take about 5-6 days walk. You will experience a wonderful and unique adventure trip along the way.

WEATHER OF MOUNTAIN
Climb Carstensz Pyramid is best time is possible for hole year, but the best is from April to December

In the highland areas, daytime temperatures should range between 75º and 85ºF, with most evenings about 45ºF. Expect warm afternoon showers which may turn cool if encountered on a mountain pass. Closer to Carstensz, snow or inclement weather may occur. Temperatures can range from 28º to 60ºF with sunshine occasionally in the mornings, then rainfall in the afternoons and evenings. Winds are variable and can be strong.
